Unstoppable; a review
You can’t keep me away from the Scott brothers! Okay, except for Robin Hood, seriously; really RUSSELL CROWE? No. Just no.
But Denzel Washington and Tony Scott are a great team (though is it just me, or are you still puzzling over Deja Vu?) and throw in Chris Pine? Oh man.. what else has he done since Star Trek? I was pining for him! (See what I did there?)
In any case; no. Unstoppable is not like Speed. Its not like Money Train with jailbird Wesley Snipes and a mulleted Woody Harrelson. Basically, due to some slack and dull-headed actions by Ethan Suplee (you’ll remember him as Randy from My Name Is Earl) and TJ Miller – a train continues on its way, unmanned, and without the aid of automatic breaks. Gaining in speed, and oh there’s the small amount of a few barrels of some very flammable gases. Â I’m sure there’s a more technical term for all of that.. throw in Rosario Dawson, whipping her back and forth (no seriously, she does – its a power move) and we have a fast-paced, action thriller where you get to know Pine and Washington’s characters with their unexpected secrets, and flaws.
Its not Oscar nomination worthy, nor Golden Globes really, but its a fun night out and better than anything that’s got a 3D chucked on the end of its title.
I’ll give you a hint; Unstoppable isn’t quite the most truthful title. (ssssh; its based on a true story, that’s all I’ll say!)
