For someone that barely drops a swearword like me, there are some songs and artists that drop it like a consonant in Wheel of Fortune and I STILL love it!
I’m talking rap music, of course. And every rap artist I suppose has had their novelty song, or songs (I’m looking at you, Slim Shady) and only few have managed to be known for anything but their novelty songs (Vanilla Ice, I’m looking at you).
I had actually thought Macklemore feat. Ryan Lewis may be in the latter with Thrift Shop. I really did. A song about op shopping?! Referencing R Kelly and uh.. bodily fluids? Its HILARIOUS. And so dang catchy!
But the follow up is stunning. ‘Same Love’ is his open letter to anyone, and governments about celebrating love in all forms, and sexual preferences. The piano melody and chorus sung by Mary (no last name..) Notably this song came out first, but Thrift Shop’s worldwide success has seen them able to re-release the song, with the perfect audience.
