Is Telephone the new Thriller?

Big call, I know. But this video clip is EPIC. Absolutely, jaw-dropping, risque, insane (not just in costume) but the grand concept and ridiculousness of this 9 plus minutes is just.. I am lost for words.

Gaga’s costume choices, as well as parts where she directly addresses those rumours about her being a hermaphrodite are bold, blunt and in your face. She doesn’t CARE. A direct homage to Thelma and Louise, and perhaps Quentin Tarantino, I’m sure Mr QT will want to cast Gaga in his next flick. Him, or Eli Roth.

Beyonce looks like a cross between Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell and has such a wonderful chemistry with Gaga – I never saw that coming! This..

Man. I’m late to Gaga/Honey B Telephone party -but I had to just get this out. This has to be the new Thriller – no other video I can think of comes close. What do you think?

I beg to differ with your comment that she doesn't care about the rumours. I think she is trying TOO hard to prove her point.

Don't get me wrong I really love Lady Ga Ga (going to see her in a couple of weeks Yay!) and although this is an epic video even short film, I don't see how it reflects the song – but maybe I am missing something.

I really don't think she needs to prove anything to anyone she is the most talented singer/songwriter/entertainer/personality since Madonna appeared on the scene, I just hope she tries less to impress/insult/offend and lets her true talent shine through.

    Fucking. Love. IT!

She just keeps getting better and more outrageous. It's so awesome. The costumes are INSANE! I love Beyonce's American diner outfit. And Gaga's phone hat and hair.

I think with the whole drama thing – she is trying to push things as far as they can go – see how people react. She definitely polarizes people that's for sure. But you know she doesn't take herself seriously and I think that's her charm. To me anyway. :-D

Okay, so she *cares* but at the same time – she's not reacting like Lara Bingle and giving the finger to paparazzi. She's facing it!

Totally agree; she is just.. a natural at being unlike anybody else. Yes, she's inspired by a lot, and has obvious influences but at the same time, she is *always* in 'character'. Seemingly. I can't read her!

I am just.. amazed. My mouth was gaping open watching it!

I LOVED the exchange between her and Honey B and the line about a cracked mirror.. WHOA!

The making sandwiches in the kitchen? SO Random! And I loved that bikini thing, shocking as it was.. she's just riveting. Can't take my eyes off her.

What the heck was the lit cigarettes sunglasses thing?! How can something like that be constructed?!

I'm not sure she doesn't take herself seriously – I mean.. she's always in character. I can't read her; she says in interviews she's shy, she doesn't have many celebrity friends, she keeps to herself – how can someone shy be THAT.. extroverted… in that way?

I would go as far as to say that yes… I agree… this is the next Thriller – it is the most amazing and original clip I have seen since Thriller. I totally love how extreme the clip is – there is no middle ground – it's Pulp Fiction meets Kill Bill meets Thelma and Louise and it works. Totally awesome – thanks for pointing it out.

I tend to agree with you Jodi @ http://mysayyoursay.com
I do think its technically (and pop culture-wise) an amazing video, and having Beyonce in it really piqued my curiosity so I've watched it once. I certainly never thought “next Thriller” or anything close (but then I am a huge MJ fan so probably biased :)

I definitely see the shock-value/insult/offend side more than I see the talent. Granted, the songs she makes are teriffic, I love listening to them, and the Poker Face video was also awesome, but I can't help thinking she's more in the Stock Aitken Waterman/Kylie/Mel & Kim/Rick Astley camp than anywhere near MJ/Quincy Jones in the music/talent/production camp, if that makes sense.

Put another way, if Gaga just sang with little accompaniment or production/engineering, would she impress the way an MJ or Stevie Wonder would?

For example, see Maria Zouridis perform this acoustic version of Rihanna's Don't Stop The Music. I'd like to see LadyGaga so something like that (maybe she has?)

Can't believe I hadn't responded earlier, sorry Merric. I honestly have been trying to think of another video clip that has this much depth, and creativity to it, but I can't!
