In the pursuit of kissable lips.. that don’t kiss off

In one day, I have a new favourite lip product. For the past few months, it has hands down been my Napoleon Perdis AutoPilot Lip Service; for being in between a balm, and a gloss and for its sweet vanilla scent. And I generally stick with a gloss day to day, its therapeutic trying not to look at emails, and just applying a coat of lipgloss just to feel a bit more girly in a largely male IT environment.
But now, I may have found its match. Very unexpectedly. I was intrigued on eBay by a product I hadn’t seen in person before, and suspected it may have been one of those discontinued before I got to try it products; L’Oreal’s Endless Kissable ShineWear – which they state on the box that it is ‘The Glossiest Zero-Transfer Lip Duo’. Quite a mouthful!
The box comes with a tube of lipstick, and then a squeezy-tube of clear gloss. According to instructions, lipstick first, gloss second after a couple minutes of drying. In the past, when I’ve tried these kinds of products; anything long wearing, or promising not to ‘kiss-off’ – is drying, and matte on lips, and just not attractive.
When I got this in the mail today, I immediately wanted to try it out and just give it a road test before taking it to work, and approving it for inclusion in the purse side pocket! The colour I got was ‘Rose Afterglow’ (pictured above)Â and I’m definitely favouring rosy/berry shades lately. I applied the lipstick, and noticed that it was rather creamy, and glided on smoothly. Even after a couple of minutes, it didn’t dry up, and make me feel as if I’d left a face mask on for 10 minutes and I couldn’t crack a smile. So I then applied the gloss. I can say that a downside is that the scent isn’t that great, it doesn’t inspire licking your lips.
After smoothing the gloss over; pretty. Not super shiny and overly glossy, and just nice enough that you could pucker your lips making sure the colour was even and voila.
The real test was just going about my business, cleaning up a little bit, I heated up some leftovers, and honestly, completely forgot I had on lipstick, and had some pasta and ate food. Had a drink.
Lipstick.. still on, not on the fork, and the colour still on my lips. In fact, a couple of hours after dinner, and I’m still marvelling at how moisturised my lips feel, and how I really love this pretty rosy colour. I think this is the start of a lipstick love affair..
(As for the ‘Kissable’ road test – I’ll keep you posted ;) )
