Glee 3D Live Concert Movie; a review

By the time you read this, it would have left cinemas. Not in a bad way, but in a limited run kinda way and I’m so BUMMED about that! I want to see it again. (Breaking: It is showing after its slated 2 week run, you CAN still watch it! I will be seeing it again!)

After the joyous minutes of Glee 3D – the concert movie, my sister and I instantly wanted to see it again. This feeling is nostalgic, if you will. Remember the joy, and exaltation (big words, I know!) from watching the surprise of season 1? That’s how I felt watching the 3D concert.

I couldn’t stop smiling, I was giggling at Brittany’s self-indulgent comments back stage, and Rachel’s nerves at being on a 3D stage. Not that she’d be on a stage that would be 2D.. that’d be awkward. There were so many moments I just wanted to be able to sing out loud, it was SUCH a sing along vibe, but no. Not in a cinema. I’ll save that for the blu-ray release in the comfort of my own home.

Whilst I thought it would be a movie of the tour, featuring interviews with the actors; the bits and pieces you see of the actors, are actually the actors in character. I hope that made sense.. what I mean is that when you see Lea Michele backstage, she is Rachel Berry. When you see Puck talking about the hot moms he wants to pick up after the show, oh he is PUCK. Interspersed with these snippets (and they are too brief I think) you get to know a few real life Gleeks, inspired by the show, relating to a particular character for one reason or another. This was actually quite touching, and I think set a nice tone to the ‘film’ as it gave further background to the song choices and such.

I will definitely, definitely be seeing this again whilst in cinemas; its worth it for sure, even for its 3D and surround sound qualities. Its not ‘obnoxious’ 3D but it honestly feels more like you have the best view possible and makes me feel slightly better and less bitter about the Glee live tour not making it to our hemisphere.

I loved it too. And yeah, I can’t wait to buy it on blu-ray and blast it through our surround sound. I do hope they include some more songs on the DVD though, I know there were a lot of great ones they didn’t include, which I think it really disappointing, as I would easily have sat through another twenty minutes of songs!

So much fun – Brittant S. Pierce shone in every number.
