Friends with Benefits; a review
I’ve now seen it twice, and could happily watch it again; that is a pretty decent recommendation for a film I’d think! Friends with Benefits; I mean, there hasn’t been a shortage of that really in recent months. No Strings Attached comes to mind, as well as Love & Other Drugs but I’d say FwB stands out. Mila & Justin’s natural chemistry just lights up the screen, and it just seems so honest. I read an article in U.S Elle magazine between them, and it felt again like the characters in the movie. They are SO naturally hot together, move over JBiel?
Timberlake’s character is a hot shot art director of a million+ click blog (one can only wish for!) and he gets head hunted by Kunis, luring him from LA to NY. A big coast to coast move which he takes (promise, no spoilers!) I’d say yes to GQ magazine in any city. He gets the job, its assumed he’s gay by Woody Harrelson (though I’m sure its not Justin’s first time if we’re being honest) and begins a friendship with Kunis, which then becomes more. I mean. Inevitably! Sex. Like a tennis match. You play, you leave. And swear on a Bible app on an iPad. (!)
With memorable cameos by Emma Stone and Andy Samberg, I wouldn’t ruin it by telling you more, but I had to mention that backing it up is an excellent soundtrack, tied in with the storyline. No doubt after watching this, you’ll be getting Kriss Kross’s ‘Jump’ back on your ipod, annoyingly humming along to the chorus. Non. STOP! As well as a few other choice 90s tracks, but I’ll leave it at that.
It was SO tempting to include a clip from the movie; as its honestly such a feel good movie, I’m bubbling over! Even if the end result is predictable, the first and second act to get to the end scene is fantastic, and heart warming all at the same time. It was THE BOMB! :D
