Flashy Friday; Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lipsticks

IMG_1051

Its clear I’m on a lip product high, and when the formula is buttery and delightful and cheaper than the more recent buttery balmy counterparts yours truly has featured recently.

Models Prefer is a Priceline exclusive brand, and is no minor ‘generic’ brand. It is bringing it’s A-Game to the Aussie beauty/cosmetics market, bringing colour and range to things that sometimes we really, really pay too much for. Our low end is considered on the pricey side for any American Youtuber you might watch. Beauty bloggers balk at spending $10 on a mascara there, when that is a SCORE for us Aussies. We really are the battlers in the beauty realm.

Enter the Moisture Lust Glossy lipsticks; from memory, about 7 or maybe 8 shades. I bought a couple to try out when on a 30% off sale already. Individually at full price they are $11.99. I fell in love.

Whilst I wouldn’t call them sheer at all, they are a buildable colour, and first swipe pigmentation on par with the Revlon Lip Butters, and apply just as smoothly as the LBs’ but they hold their shape. They aren’t quite as ‘soft’ as the butters, though which in my eyes is a plus. It will last just that much longer. You know that small amount of smoosh you get with them? I find it really hard to get the exact cosmetological (is that a word?) term but it just feels more like a lipstick in that respect. I also compare them directly to the Lip Butters also because they have also taken the ‘dessert’ name for each colour.

I dislike the boxy square packaging; I prefer the ‘bullets’ and the cylindrical lipsticks. And the stickers and pricing that encases the lipsticks are a beyotch to completely get off of the packaging, and so they aren’t as smooth as I would like them to be, because of all the adhesive.

Another minor downside is that the cap labels aren’t a really accurate depiction of the colour they deposit. They may be in the general colour family; but for example, looking at the cap for Berry Shortcake, it is not nearly as Berry, or Wine-esque as you may think. I highly suggest swatching it in store in order to see if it will match well with your skin tone. But that is so minor considering the colour payoff and the purse-ability of them (ie, purse convenience) I’m full of weird words today.

I’ve been negligent and these swatches are in reverse order of my first image. From left to right;

Peach Ice Tea, Cupcake, Berry Shortcake, Fairy Floss

Notably by the swatch, you’ll see Fairy Floss has these gorgeous flecks of gold and I LOVE it. Its my idea of an exciting ‘nude’. Yes, it does look darker than a nude but it really is an easier nude for me to wear, above Revlon’s Crème Brulee. Secondly I love Berry Shortcake’s easy to wear shade of ‘red’. Its like a soft strawberry, and its like a baby step to red I like to think. Cupcake is your everyday playful pink; I don’t often wear it but I do like it when I want that pop of colour. Peach Ice Tea is my HELLO SUMMER colour. It looks scarily orange in the tube but it applies softer, and a gorgeous coral on the lips. That being said, you still have to be careful about what you wear it with (ie, a subtle eye look and not too heavy on the blush for that day)

I highly recommend you check them out, and the other colours I do not own.

You can buy them at your local Priceline store, or online here

Oh, and I bought these babies myself. :) Integrity always.
