Can True Blood be more gross?!

There was no other subject line I could have used for this. Honestly. I really thought I’d seen as much gore, and be as shocked in season 1 or 2 of True Blood. With one of Eric’s hottest ‘looks’ (apart from nekkidness) to start off the day, I needed to just discuss True Blood so far. Am I alone in thinking this season has been more shock value then engrossing plot? (Pardon the near pun..)

But if it wasn’t Lorena and Bills’.. bed activities at the end of season 3 that horrified me, this past episode with Tara’s ‘doing what she had to do’ to be free of Franklin, really, really took the cake. A wedding cake sized cake. Shock value is great, and character wise – Tara needed to show a new level of desperation, a new level of fight to escape, now that she’d reconciled and moved on from Eggs’ death. But..

Having said that, I must admit so far, concerning plot development; its felt quite flat to me. Some stand out moments as always from Lafayette (and helllooooo Kevin Alejandro!) and of course Eric and Pam and new freakily hot werewolf Alcide, but the Bill and Sookie storyline has been lacklustre. Heck, even Jessica’s new found confidence in her vampy self has just been pushed to the backburner. Sam’s family issues? *yawn* And I looove Marshall Alman who will always be ‘LJ’ (Lincoln’s son from Prison Break) to me.

Am I alone? What do you think of True Blood series 3 so far?

    The Bill and Lorena's angry vampire porn scene turned me off True Blood for a few weeks. I was use to the sex scenes in True Blood but that one went a bit too far. Hell I was even stunned after the Eric/russian woman one but Eric's butt made up for it, hehe.

    I don't really care about Sam's family. Maybe his brother a little but don't understand why he just doesn't tell his parents where to go. Dog fighting for money for his Dad? Is that all? They don't look like they really get a lot of money out of it so what's the point.

    Lafayette story = gold. I want him to find love! The Sookie story.. god turn her already or atleast let her sleep with the hot werewolf..

    I ordered the book series to see how much of the storyline is actually in the books..

    I'm so bored with this season & have little motivation to continue with this show…glad to see I'm not alone!! Less Bill & Sookie, more Lafayette, Jason & Hoyt!

    This latest episode was slightly over the top gory. However, I believe justified. Tara smashing Franklin's head, the torture of Bill… both stories wrapped in a lot of emotion.
    I am a believer that because it is a cable network show, they have creative license to “do what they want”, not being restricted by the regulations & morals of the commercial stations. This doesn't make it right, however I am happy they don't hold back.

    The story line is a little slow at present, however there were times last season that I felt the same. Lafayette is a great character that has much depth & I hope they explore that more. Less Jason is good, he annoyed me last season, along with that whole sun worship church. I am liking the development of Jessica & agree, Sookie needs to get some werewolf in her.

    I totally agree. I felt sick watching it, I had to look away at some stages. Just soo gross. I don't care much for Bill and Sookie, I'm waiting for some Eric and Sookie action!

    What shocked me more with the Bill and Lorena scene was that.. some people laughed at it! I mean.. for them to laugh, they really mustn't have seen, character wise, what that meant, as well as absorb the brutality of it. *shudder* Seriously, team Eric all the way!

    Lafayette.. seriously, I don't want him to get hurt!!! I want him to send me a text!! :P

    I'm annoyed at the lack of Hoyt! Really lovin' Jessica as she grows up and such – and I LOVE preggers Arlene hehe

    Oh, I think it was… justified, I guess? It was a new level of desperation for Tara – but in context of the whole show, of the plot in its entirety through the season.. I just feel as if they are throwing in these super gory, brutal scenes to keep our attention.. as opposed to keeping us enthralled for better reasons..

    This comment is clearly belated (sorry), but I just can’t help myself in this case. Must.Voice.Opinion.

    Anyway, what I’ve seen of True Blood season three thus far has been ‘lacking’. After reading all of the current novels (and absolutely loving them) I am sad to say the adapted version isn’t making the cut. It’s drawn out and melodramatic where the books are punchy and exciting. I’m yet to finish the season so hopefully it improves…
