An Open Letter to Nash Overstreet

For those that don’t know this name, he is a guitarist in Hot Chelle Rae. You may know them; they sing Tonight, Tonight, I Like It Like That and Honestly. I felt empassioned to write this and hope that it may reach him. He’s the one with the glasses, and funny pants.

To you, I’m a single fan in Australia. I’ve paid money to see you live when you supported Taylor Swift. I went interstate for this concert. I was almost, practically 60/40 more excited to see YOUR band. But to you, I’m someone that’s whinged about an apparent inside joke you posted on Instagram which, well ; see below.

But you represent a little bit more you see. You have a public profile. You’re part of a Billboard 100 group, and you’ve toured with Taylor Swift. You’re recognisable and oh, you have a famous brother that stars on Glee. That helps. How you represent yourself actually has an impact on your band. I know that you can unfollow on Twitter, and I did. After all I’m really not impressed or don’t think more of anything that talks about getting drunk, or alcohol, or more alcohol, and well.. you get the point. I kept you on Instagram though because hey, sometimes it is of substance. Untill I see that photo. It seemed to be an inside joke, and someone on the HCR Instagram account commented that. I asked, and asked on both of those profiles was it a joke? Because it was offensive. It doesn’t matter if the object of that comment wouldn’t take it badly – but its anyone else that might have seen that; and may have repeated it. Unwittingly thinking, oh that’s funny, haha a pop star said it. Do you see the damage?

Thoughtfully, Ian replied and said that you do funny things when you’re drunk BUT made the move of removing it from the HCR Instagram profile. Don’t you think that says something?

Yet you didn’t reply, you didn’t consider the offense and so I wondered if Perez Hilton might see the bigotry in the comment, to which you replied, oh hahaha if you only knew anything about me or my friends. I don’t recall actually insinuating that I knew you personally, or your friends or how you interact. My issue and my point is that what you said is in the public domain. Do you see that, or, are you still drunk?

This actually makes me like HCR a little bit less. It really tarnishes the love I had, it diminishes the good memories I had of going interstate to see you play, and makes me question whether its worth forking out dollars when you guys return to Australia. Because I don’t want to give money, no matter how miniscule my contribution is to someone that disregards and dismisses offensive comments the way you have.

Yeah, that was definitely a dumb caption. I don’t know who he is, but I definitely wouldn’t support him.

BTW, I love that my black is always showing! : )

I just can’t believe what a douche he is. He never removed it. The band did but yeah.. I can’t listen to them the same again!
