I am such a fan of Jennifer Garner; SUCH a fan. It probably began with her portrayal of Sydney Bristow in Alias but I had seen her before that, when she played Hannah in Felicity. (Oh, remember that show?!) So easily, she is my favourite actress, Idon’t think she can play a bad part, I don’t think she can take a bad photo – but check her out above!
Last night, she appeared on David Letterman to promote her new film with Matthew McConaughey Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Not only was Dave unwell, and particularly croaky – enough so that he quit halfway through the monologue to give the rest of the monologue’s delivery to his cue-card guy Tony Mendez. (Surprisingly witty, dry and did a great job!) Even the Top 10 list of the night was read out by Paul Shaffer (I seriously do not find him amusing… ever).
Poor Dave could barely hold any sort of pitch; and so when Jennifer was introduced, she walked in, mug in hand with a teabag sitting inside, and a bit of milk! Straight away, she sat down, and began preparing the tea for him. “You are a wreck, Dave!” They started chatting, all about having her second daughter Seraphina, and how Violet (Jen & Ben’s first daughter) had suddenly began saying the name Sarah as a choice, and they decided, what? No? She’s not deciding, she’s a baby! But when they found Seraphina to mean angel in several languages, Hebrew, Italian, German.. etc – they agreed on that name.
Dave complimented Jennifer, and said if she entered a ‘Best Face’ competition, she’d win, year upon year, upon year. And she was like Oh DAVE! And she made a trademark Jennifer Garner goofy face (trademark if you have ever seen any Alias blooper reel) fluttering her eyelashes and just being damn adorable. Dave then wanted to introduce a clip for the movie, and Jen didn’t respond for a second, and she giggled saying oh I was lost in the compliment, nobody’s flirted with me for years! What? Married to Ben Affleck?!
After the clip was played, Dave noticed the ugly scabs looking a bit worse for wear on her knees, and elbow, and somehow.. just had a bit of salve/ointment, and immediately starts tending to them, rubbing them in for her. She obediently held out her elbow so he could get some on there too. He so helpfully says, well leave that on, then it will come off in the shower, put some back on. She took the ointment, and put it down her dress!
Cutest interview EVER – especially when she talks about Violet’s reaction to the fall. And just because I had to share.. check out the video below:
