Last week, I had the pleasure of attending a book promotion in-store at Myer Melbourne City, where Natalie Bloom, the founder of Bloom Cosmetics was going to be signing her new book Beauty in Bloom. Immediately, with its water-coloured bold and beautiful illustrations, I knew it was exactly the kind of book I’d want in my collection.
As a young Australian woman, Natalie followed her passion for makeup, and design and founded Bloom Cosmetics. 15 years later, its one of Australia’s success stories, and certainly much more aesthetically pleasing, and far more affordable than her Australian counterpart in Napoleon Perdis. The book has been created to share quotes, images, and inspirations for surrounding the reader with positive influences, not just makeup, but inspires women to be more creative. I love a certain quote from within that states ‘the best colour on a woman is one that suits her’ – there is no right or wrong. Its all about individuality whether it be with makeup, or the books you read, the music you listen to, or the artwork you hang on your walls. Beauty is subjective, and its an important message to spread.
I had a lovely time chatting with Natalie all about her motivations for building the company, to how she loves to experiment with colours, using the flat eyeliner brush, and its not all about black eyeliner! Even if you are having a ‘neutral worksafe’ look, its fun to mix it up with a swipe of a teal, or lime green eyeliner to make the eyes pop. I also had to pick up the limited edition ‘Cool Look’ palette, with a light grey, charcoal and black colours to attempt a smokey look, in a cute silver palette with a mirrow, and instructions on how to use the colours for the seductive smokey look. All that for the price of one MAC eyeshadow.. three for one? I’m in!
Also worth checking out are the holiday gift packs, featuring designer nail polishes, a pampering gift pack with vanilla bean, or green tea and bergamot. I’m such a vanilla girl, so easy to please!
