Whoa. I am blown away. In fact, controversially, this latest episode of Prison Break just gobsmacked me more than the True Blood season finale did, I’m sorry to say. (Really.. I am sorry)
But, I did not see that coming. For the most part, Agent Self has just been one of the low points of the season in my eyes. A season that I have enjoyed so much, and yes, it did have to do with Dr Tancredi’s return, but also, just the the breakneck pace of each episode, the hunt for Scylla, Gretchen’s return, the bad assedness of Wyatt, and the character development of Alexander Mahone. Although, another confession – Lincoln still does not impress me, really. Bored now.
But Self, I seriously thought Michael Rapaport was miscast, I wondered why they would have such a weasly type character, that was meant to be coordinating a massive historic takedown of a ‘Company’ that was controlling many institutions, and countries, and ruining (killing) lives and families.. – I wondered, huh? Is he meant to be this weasly, and unconvincing, and non-threatening? But now I see it for what its worth, and none of them, especially a now absolutely stunned T-Bag saw it coming.
The scenes in which the Fox River, and Sona escapees are talking about what they are looking forward to, a beer, a ball game, just being with family, or being free, and then… the flow of emotions that course through Wentworth Miller’s eyes, sorry, Schofield’s eyes as he calls Self’s number, and its been disconnected; then opening the envelope supposedly containing their papers officially freeing them – all blank – no words were needed. It was just… gut wrenching, heartbreaking, anger and jaw dropping inducing – but how could it be anything else? Its episode 12…
And Michael still needs surgery on the tumour he postponed to get Scylla. This season has just been riveting! Who needs a ‘prison’ to break out of? They’re IN prison still being fugitives, even succeeding in stealing the most valuable thing from the Company!
