I really couldn’t think of a better subject line, apart from what Ghost!Denny says to Izzie, as she cries out “Why are you here?”. What a turn of events, and interesting way of bringing Denny back… and is he back? And how? He is a ghost right? He came back last season, to ensure that Meredith didn’t stay dead, and to make her realise she had life to live. He came back last season to just show Meredith, and to show Izzie he was still around.. in a way. They could sense each other.
And now, somehow he is back, and he is visceral. Somehow. I have a bad, bad gut churning feeling that the Grey’s writers are just building us up for a fall. I bawled my eyes out when Denny died at the end of Season 2. I mean, sobbing. SOBBING. And it wasn’t just because they did the amazing video clip to Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars but just because, for a short time, Izzie and Denny just had this adorable love story, and she took care of him, and he took care of her.. and then on ‘prom night’, he was gone. In this gorgeous dress.
And then after that, Izzie went all Melrose Place and apparently just wanted to sleep with anyone that would give her a lick of affection. She thought best friend George could become love-R George, and that storyline just fizzled. I mean, really? Was there chemistry AT all? They are honestly like brother and sister. Then, she apparently went back to thinking that abrasive Alex was going to be Mr Right, and maybe she could ‘fix’ him at the same time, although he was still nursing wounds over being completely wrong for Ava. Or Elizabeth. What was her name? (She’s much better on The Ex List)
I digress, I honestly don’t know what was becoming of Izzie’s character, and I hated that they just wanted her to be with someone. And now.. Denny is back. But HOW? To what end? She can touch him, and they had a fairytale kiss once she realised he was *real*. Is this all a big tease? It’s gotta be right? Grey’s Anatomy isn’t a supernatural/fantasy show, therefore how can they bring a character back from the dead?
And boy, are they regretting the Callie/Erica storyline? That was a rather abrupt departure, and one that was even more abrupt than Dr Burks’.. Interesting that when Isaaiah Washington left, it was because of his real life remarks about T.R Knight’s sexuality, and now with Brooke Smith’s (Erica) departure, possibly because of the racy storyline with Callie and their adventures south of the border? You gotta wonder..
