U write Beiber not Beeber

Okay – ordinarily video posts or ‘funny’ videos would go over at my Tumblr however – this just had to be shared here – and with all 3 parts of the video posted on YouTube. It is just THAT funny, it is that clever and seriously – press play. Why are you still reading?

Justin Long. Boy, have I been a fan of him since he was on Ed. Yep, knew him long before he gave Britney Spears her first kiss on Crossroads, long before he was ‘the Mac guy’ – even before he was adorable bar owning guy in He’s Just Not That Into You. Promoting his latest flick Going the Distance – here he is on the Jimmy Kimmel show – texting a tween that doesn’t know who she’s texting..

Enjoy!

Brandon & Charlize – Crossfire

*squee* Another video clip I’ve been super excited to see – and who knew?! We saw her at the World Cup in home country South Africa, and now – here Charlize Theron is in Brandon Flowers’ first solo venture, in his Crossfire video clip. I. LOVE it. Certainly less avant garde and wacky than a Killers’ video clip but more cinematical and action packed with Charlize throwing a mean ninja star, in this he almost reminds me of a darker version of Ryan Phillippe. What do you think?

Giggle-Fit Inducing Moments in Film #2

Thought it was time to do another of these – and its one that never, ever fails to make me laugh. Crazy dancin’ tends to do that! If you missed the first one, check it out here – it was a beautifully bad sing-along moment in Harold & Kumar go to White Castle.

This crazy dancing here, seen in Hitch is just so well done – you’d have to train to look so good.. dancing bad! Agree?

Before Bieber, there was Esmee..

Its all about Bieber fever around the Southern Hemisphere lately (as well as Bieber-hate, which frankly I just don’t get especially as it stems from those that don’t even *know* who he is, or the fact that they aren’t in his demographic at all… but that’s a whole other post)

You might have thought that Justin Bieber was the only singer that sang on YouTube to the world’s most interactive audience. Whilst Lily Allen rose to fame via Myspace, you still had to be a friend to add comments, or interact with her – but with YouTube – its all out there, warts and all, thumbs up, thumbs down, comments and video responses and so forth. The audience decides if you’re good or not.

A lesser known singer that you would have heard on the radio (just not known who it was) is Esmee Denters a Dutch teenager who covered pop songs by Justin Timberlake, OneRepublic, or Alicia Keys on YouTube and grew such an audience, given coverage by the Dutch press, that she became Justin Timberlake’s first signing to his record label Tenman Records.  (Rumour has it he also wanted Bieber, but Usher got to him first)

You would have heard her album’s title track ‘Outta Here‘ but not realised it. Here is her latest single ‘Love Dealer’ with JTimberlake himself. Give her a go; she’s got a smooth pop/r & b voice and her album is a great listen, fused with some sexy Justin Timberlake moments.

And for laughs.. Esmee and Bieber had a Youtube reunion here

Hotter-than-heck movies in 2010

Happy New Year! Hoping you had a great break over the festive season. I’m still a lady of leisure you’d be pleased and enraged to know. I’ve had a ridiculous amount of time to watch new TV shows, mourn the loss of the tenth Dr, get amazingly obsessed and hooked with Friday Night Lights, (Texas Forever, ya’ll) and also start pencilling in cinema outings for upcoming films of 2010. I’m not going to include all the obvious (Iron Man 2, Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, Alice in Wonderland) but some of the movies you may not know about, and deserve a bit more attention.

Trailer Party! ~ Click on the movie title to view the trailer

In no particular order..

Leap Year Matthew Goode. You might all know him as of Watchmen, or possibly Matchpoint, but I have loved him ever since Chasing Liberty possibly, my favourite chick flick. At least in the top 5. One you have not heard of, but need to watch! Anyway, I digress. Matthew Goode is a bit rugged in this, alongside American goofy gal Amy Adams who travels to Ireland in the hopes of proposing to her boyfriend on the one day that she apparently can – on a Leap Year’s February 29th. Wackiness ensues, and the swooning.

Frozen If you love horror, mixed with a little hopelessness (think Open Water) well, you’ll be a fan of Frozen. 3 skiiers trapped on a ski lift. At night. Oh, and on a Sunday when the resort will only reopenon Friday..

Valentine’s Day 2010′s answer to Love, Actually? With an amazing ensemble cast, this is not going to be intellectually challenging, but its going to be a LOT of eye candy.

Inception I have no clue what this movie is about. A shaky glass of water!? Is it Jurassic Park? I have no clue. But it has a brilliant cast, directed by Christopher Nolan, and thus it has to be at least decent. Perhaps this is one where I’ll just go in to the cinema and be incredibly surprised. It works! (cough*District 9*cough)

Letters to Juliet *swoon* Love letters, Europe, and Gael Garcia Bernal? Oh. Man. I have to admit I was already sold on the plot before I saw the trailer, but once I saw Amanda Seyfried and Christopher Egan together, I was dancing in my lounge room to Taylor Swift as well. I can’t WAIT!

The Crazies I often try to avoid the Crazies at the train station after 9pm, but this is a whole new level. One of those movie lessons on, don’t stay in those towns you’re meant to pass through for any amount of time. Oh, and don’t drink the water.

Talhotblond I wasn’t sure if I could entirely include this documentary but it looks absolutely compelling. Talhotblond is the user name of a flirty girl you don’t really want to meet online. The ultimate (and true) cautionary tale of dating online.

Cop Out I’ve missed Bruce Willis doing comedy, and I think he’d have an interesting banter/chemistry with Tracy Morgan for sure. Great trailer!

Shutter Island Oooh, an eerie Alcatraz-esque mental asylum, starring Leonardo DiCaprio & Mark Ruffalo, based on a book written by Dennis Lehane (who wrote the amazing Mystic River as well as Gone, Baby Gone) and directed by Scorcese. Really looking forward to this!

The Book of Eli This looks like a cross between Mad Max, I Am Legend and maybe a bit of The Professional. I have to see anything with Denzel, and where Gary Oldman is the villain. Seriously, he’s a brilliant villain!

Dear John Another Nicholas Sparks novel, another sure-to-make-Kimberley-cry tearjerker. With Channing Tatum! As well as Amanda Seyfried who surprisingly has been quite busy post Mamma-Mia. More love letters (I sense a pattern with Amanda, she may get typecast if she’s not careful) as Channing’s character is sent off to Iraq, across a 7 year period with altogether brief visits along the way.

Get out your calendars, diaries, start making plans! I know 2010 is going to be a great movie-going year! As well as an amazing place to seek solace from the Melbourne heatwave..

Michael Buble singing Letterman’s Top 10 List

So.. I should be in bed now. Its late. But I’m stubborn, and I generally decide my bed time entirely dependent on who the guests will be on Letterman. And about 1 minute into this evening’s Top 10 list, I was certain I had to share it with you.

I give you – Michael Buble singing ‘Top Ten Least Favourite Standards’.. I have no words. Just giggles. See for yourself. (Though #4 and #1 made me laugh the loudest.. oh heck, all of them)

When Bad Videos happen to Good Songs; Deux

Sia | Buttons (Music Video) from Concord Music Group on Vimeo.

I thought it’d be worthwhile in continuing this series of posts, as in the first post about Scream by Timbaland ft Keri Hilson and Nichole Scherzinger being absolutely wacky, and ruining a good song. For part deux, I saw this video last night, as I was watching Sia’s music programming episode of Rage – and after being in awe of her beautiful video with Breathe Me (a song I will never forget as the closing track to Six Feet Under) then comes this. Its called Buttons (and sounding nothing like the Pussycat Dolls’ track with the same name) but.. I had to turn it off. I had to fast forward it. Its bloody disturbing! And how the heck does it even match the song? I can’t even look at it without cringing. So of course, here I am sharing it with you all. To share the pain. Tell me your thoughts on it!

Lisa Mitchell – Coin Laundry

Hmm. A dilemma. After being apalled by her live performance, vowing not to be impressed by anything she would release, I may have changed my mind. As I wrote here after seeing Lisa Mitchell live as a support act to Jason Mraz earlier this year, it’s quite funny that I’m quite (reluctantly) enjoying her album Wonder. From the first audition on Australian Idol in 2006, she definitely has a unique style and I think the songs on the album really epitomise who she is as an artist (I could have been the next Australian Idol judge!)

If you haven’t been introduced yet, check out her first single Neopolitan Dreams that featured on an advertisement and garnered more popularity via TV more than radio airplay.

Her new single called Coin Laundry, singing a sweet tale of having a laundromat crush is damn catchy, I have to say. Odd videoclip but apparently that’s the norm with ‘alternative’ artists. Also – does the guy in this not look completely like a less sullen Michael Pitt? Dead ringer!

My fave for the Season – If It Kills Me

Here it is. My favourite dance of Season 5 – So You Think You Can Dance. Without spoiling who the winner is (and this dance airs tomorrow, on 15/8 here in Australia) I think its okay for me to share this with you now. After seeing all of the episodes, and agreeing with a lot of the judges picks in the finale – this, Travis Wall’s debut as a choreographer (runner up from Season 2) is my favourite. He choreographed a contemporary in which Jason and Jeanine just take my breath away and make my heart race all within a minute and a half to this song, an accoustic version of If It Kills Me by Jason Mraz.

What kills me about this – is that later on, you find out that the kiss that closes it, oh so sweetly, was not even choreographed. Be still.. my sentimental heart.

Paolo Nutini – Coming Up Easy

Listening to Paolo Nutini’s sophomore album, its quite a bit slowed down from the first pop-folk-contemporary, okay let’s just say ‘hybrid’ genre. Never will I forget the moment when my sister and I were trying to find out info on him after hearing Last Request for the first time, and exclaming SCOTTISH?! not realising that Mr Nutini was very heavily Scottish – and if you listen to the live or accoustic tracks, its quite clear. (And only 22!)

This is one voice that you would not believe belongs to a 22 year old, so husky and rich with emotion, belying his age or baby-faced good looks.

In saying that, he is.. incredibly easy on the eyes. Incredibly. The first track from the new album Sunny Side Up is Coming Up Easy, and the slow to mid-tempo folky retro feel of it conjures images of dancing on the balcony, head on my lover’s shoulder and just forgetting the world. Never did I think of a white beer-guzzling butt-grabbing dancing bunny rabbit. You have to see it to believe it..
